Wizapa's Street Tacos

About us

Welcome to La Wizapa Street Tacos, inspired by the legacy of Antonio Garcia Alcalá, also known as Toño la Wizapa. Born in 1953 in Degollado, Jalisco, Mexico, Toño's journey as a taquero began at the young age of 17 in 1970 when he set up his humble taco stand in the vibrant plaza of his hometown. For 56 remarkable years, Toño poured his heart and soul into perfecting the art of taco-making, earning a reputation for his flavorful salsa and mouth-watering tacos. Toño's tacos were the talk of the town. His taco stand, stationed daily in the bustling plaza of Degollado, the heart of the town, was known as The Last Dinner because he operated from 5 pm to 4 am, ensuring that his customers could enjoy a delicious meal until the late hours.

Toño's taco Stand wasn't just a place to eat; it was a sanctuary where stories were shared, laughter echoed, and memories were made. Toño's infectious spirit and warm hospitality were as legendary as his tacos, and his famous saying, 'el Que no conoce la Wizapa no conoce Degollado,' showed just how much he was loved in Degollado.

On December 7th, 2023, Toño passed away, leaving behind his taco-making legacy. La Wizapa Street Tacos honors Toño's memory by sharing his recipes and flavors with our customers.
